Terry’s Travels: Pirogies, Pirates, and Traffic Cone Madness – Pittsburgh, PA (5/12/26)

On May 12th, 2026, we made our way out to PNC Park, Home of the Pittsburgh Pirates, as part of our “Major League Photo Project” to cross off the Colorado Rockies & get some new flicks of the Pirates.

We started off the night with some Chipped Ham Fries (I’m told Chipped Ham is a Pittsburgh Delicacy).

Overall, I’d give it a 7/10 – Very good ham, the fries were not too soft and the cheese was sporadic. Like, I didn’t really cheese was on them till the bottom.

To continue on our Yinzer Journey, we also had the privilege to see Paul Skenes start for the Pirates, and more specifically, pitch a No-Hitter through the seventh inning! ( the Rockies Mickey Moniak hit a single with one out in the seventh).

To wrap up our evening, we got to experience the Pittsburgh Traffic Cone Madness; as the Team decided to use a traffic comes to celebrate home runs etc. the city of Pittsburgh has had to issue warnings and violations regarding people stealing city traffic cones and bringing them into the stadium – which hasn’t stopped people from buying their own and bringing them in though, holding them up every time the team scores a run.

You have to wonder what the Stadium Security thinks about traffic cones when it comes to the stadium’s police on “Prohibited Items”.

Last but not least, one of my personal favorite touches, in contrast to the Normal stadium “Hot Dog Races”, the Pirates turned the tables with the great Pierogi Race!
