Terry’s Travels: The 2026 PDGA Champions Cup (Lynchburg, VA)

The 2026 PDGA Champions Cup, the first professional Major of the year, took place from April 9 to 12, 2026, in the Lynchburg and Bedford County area of Virginia (PDGA, 2026). This fifth edition of the championship marked a return to a single-course format at the highly technical New London Tech Disc Golf Course, a 12,097-foot, par 69 property renowned for its demanding wooded fairways and dramatic shot shapes (Ledgestone Events, n.d.). The tournament featured 148 competitors across the MPO and FPO divisions, vying for a total pro purse of $119,750

The event concluded with Niklas Anttila capturing his first Major title in the MPO division with a score of 27-under par, narrowly defeating Gannon Buhr (DGPT, 2026). In the FPO division, Silva Saarinen secured the victory, adding to a historic weekend for Finnish disc golf (DGPT, 2026). Beyond the elite competition, the week featured a festival atmosphere with a “Foundation Family Zone,” local scavenger hunts, and the Vessi Ace Competition, making it a central highlight of the 2026 professional season
