What was sure to be an extraordinary night, getting to sit in a Sky Box, and getting to chat with Jason Prill (Howlers director of broadcasting and media relations) about all the fun stuff the Howlers have going on (Watch the Full Interview here), became so much more unforgettable than we could ever have imagined, but we’ll get to that in a little bit.
As we nestled in to our fancy lil’ (actually, slightly big) Skybox, the first thing in the docket, was to try the new Foot Long Corndogs. I must say, somehow, even after Akron’s “Three Dog Night”, Greenville’s “Dive Dog”, snd many many more, somehow, the sheer amount of cornbread on this bad boy made it one of the longest extreme food items for me to complete (10/10 on the food scale though).
The Howlers put an absolute smack down on the Fredericksburg Nationals, eventually winning 8-4, and didn’t let their foot off the gas for even a minute. Speaking of “Not letting your foot off the gas”, I think this is a good place to start the real storyline of the night. Sometime early on in the game, a young man burst into our skybox with a radio in hand, and said “I was told someone in here is gonna race the luchador.” ….Huh? This being our first game, though intrigued, we were a little Confused. We heard about a Luchador Bobble Belly giveaway coming up, thanks to our new friend Jason, but weren’t quite sure of what this almost imminent threat of “Racing THE Luchador” meant.
Regardless, our very own Codename Andrew Johnson Agreed, and began preparations immediately. After being sized up, and accidentally given the secret Identity of the supposed Superhero himself, Aj had the daunting task of Racing “El Gordo” (Video Available Below).
I’d like to point out, it seemed as tho we had a tie, or potentially, Aj May have put his hand over the finish line first.
Anyway, I think we truly got the full Howlers’ experience during our time in Lynchburg, Capped off with a visit from the cat Himself, Southpaw! AND FIREWORKS!!!
