As per usual, We attended our first Cleveland Monsters game of the season on opening night (October 17, 2025) – to say the least you can tell that this is a very young team.
Inherently sloppy play, while it is young in the season, with, again, a young team, pucks were constantly getting lost on passes, lost in the neutral zone, defenders lost in the neutral zone while the other team had the puck in their offensive zone, and as you’ll read down below in Dp’s take of the night, an almost 7 foot goalie got beat over his shoulder, potentially more than once, depending on how you wanna look at the first goal.
While there was some veteran talent on the team, including a 14-year NHL veteran (previously) from the Dallas Stars, signed to a PTO this season with the Blue Jacket/Monsters – largely due to the reasons listed above, the Monsters were not able to find the twine at all tonight, with the final score being 3-0 in favor or the Lehigh Valley Phantoms.

Anyway, here’s our highlight video from this one, and we’ll see you at the Rocket again soon!
