The Unstoppable Force of The 23′-24′ Florida Panthers and the Lucky Cat Ears & Jersey

With Just a four minute phone call with the Florida Panthers front office, you can tell they knew. Everyone knew, about Sergei Bobrovsky. Brick wall Bob, the Bobbery, whatever you may know him from, or as. Much like the 2023-2024 Florida Panthers team as a whole, he’s been an unstoppable force, and they know it.

From a new line of T-shirts, to lines of prints & phone cases – the team, and the fans, after over a decade of dominance, and years of enjoyment, have all finally caught Bobrovsky Fever.

This article isn’t just about The Bob though, I just wanted that new wave of enjoyment for Bobrovsky to be shared, as my brother has been showing live replays of his acrobatics in net to my family and I, who have also joined in watching him for years now – including just about every game he played with our “local” team, the Columbus Blue Jackets; so it’s refreshing to see everyone is finally on board with what we’ve been seeing.

Sergei Bobrovsky hoisting The Stanley Cup!

Anyway, the Florida Panthers, Amidst their first Stanley Cup Championship victory in franchise history, have been, and look like (when they play as a whole) they will be for years to come, a force to be reckoned with. A lot of people may credit the team’s success to the impressive offense, with four players surpassing the 50 point mark, or even their defense, with an impressive 2.02 goals against average, with both Sergei Bobrovsky and Anthony Stolarz overperforming behind a well rounded defense; but, the true fans know, it’s Because of our very own friend of the program, Donovan – also know on the Ice and in the Net as “Power Serg”, or perhaps, “Donno” – has worn the Florida Panthers’ Reverse Retro Jersey (pictured below) during every playoff game, and honestly, it seems like almost every day, since the Panthers entered the playoffs.

If you’re about to comment “what about games 4-6”. Well, we have an explanation for that too – while the general public may say it’s because of a team with a lot of guys who’ve never been in this situation before, getting the jitters, missing opportunities, not getting back on defense, and being outright outplayed, the REAL reason, was because we went to a comedy show & a concert on those particular nights, so he wasn’t wearing the jersey. Fine the jersey can only do so much for so long, but we do still have the cat ears. What cat ears you may ask?

Well, Now that you know the real reason the Panthers won The Cup, I’d like to share another story, to further prove my point. After the Rangers went up 2 games to 1 on the Panthers in the Eastern Conference finals, I received an order I placed with the Panthers Team shop. I ordered Donovan a “Brick Wall Bob” shirt, as a graduation gift, because he’s grown up a Bobrovsky fan, not just because the similar Last name to his First name (Sergi to Sergei), but also from watching him in Columbus all those years. Anyway, when we got the package in the mail, and I blindly handed it over to him to open (without thinking to check it) – he opened what was a surprise to us all!

They accidentally slapped our shipping label on someone else’s order. Sending us a Hockey puck, and a pair of Panther cat ears (the original video Below)

Just to rightfully add to the superstition, it was actually the Reverse Retro Jersey, and the cat ears that won the Cats the cup, to be exact, because after opening that package, the Cats’ won the series by beating the Rangers the next three games in a row, then won the Cup in 7 games against the Edmonton Oilers by a score of 2-1 (with cat ears on hand in games 1-3 & 7).

At the time this article was published, we still haven’t received the shirts, but we are in contact with the front office working to get them to us, now that the ears have served their purpose, and we’ve obtained said Cup.

Anyway, Congratulations to the Florida Panthers, specifically Sergei Bobrovsky, and everyone affiliated with the organization, Including all six fans. Also, congratulations to the Oiler’s Connor McDavid on winning the 2024 Conn Smythe Trophy.
