On my way home from about a week away in North Carolina, Installing a new Haunted event at Burlington Athletic Stadium, home of the Burlington Sock Puppets…..in Burlington, NC (again, a story for another article), I had to make a pit stop and visit a legendary team as far as MiLB, and baseball as a whole is concerned. Now, I say “on my way home” loosely, because as a matter of fact, this was half an hour in the other direction; but when you’re this close to a bucket list item, you take the wrong exit.
I largely anticipated this trip to merely be a trip to the team shop, with the chance of potentially seeing the field, depending where the windows to the team shop faced. What I ended up getting far exceeded my expectations. I did, in fact, get a little view of the playing surface from the team shop, but, more importantly, I found a little walking path with some stairs that led up to what seemed to be a viewing deck next to the famous “hit bull win steak – hit grass win salad” Bull in the outfield, with a perfect view of the whole park!

Durham, and the DBAP is a very up and coming little area. You can tell at one point it was probably not much, with the amount of Industrialized area and train tracks around the restaurants, bars and living arrangements that don’t seem to have been built all too long ago. As I usually say, Durham is another location I Highly recommend visiting, with their more modern look. you’ll be surprised at how quickly you rocket back to 1988 and the set of Bull Durham (which was actually filmed just down the road) with the retro flora and fauna of the original logo, colors, and uniforms the Bulls still sport to this day, keeping their classic brand on par with modern looks and amenities; prepared for the “new wave” of both ballpark style, as well as available offerings in said ballpark, yes, including the team shop. As a matter of fact, speaking of modern retail offerings, during my stop I Picked up a bobblehead (and tail) of the famous outfield Bull sign!
